UK, US to help with trapped submariners

Hmm, it seems that they are going to help. I’d still like to know what it was doing, though. I hope those men get out alive– they’ll be in my prayers.

London Blair announces summary deportation for extremists

Why can’t we do that here? I already know the answer, the ACLU would go bonkers… not that they already aren’t.

People’s Daily Online — Is there a tenth planet in the solar system?

We just might have found planet X… I always thought they should name it ‘nemesis’ after the 10th planet in the Sailormoon R series.

What else _do_ you call going for-profit? I like my open-source! And I don’t like paying for something that thousands of people collaborated on– we should all get a slice of what we make. Yesh.

Why is it only the pro-israel lobbyists that get charged, when Sandy Berger gets a slap on the wrist and a kiss on the other hand? Somebody call the hypocrisy hotline.

Reporter Accused of Spying in China

Reporter Accused of Spying in China

I hope Taiwan is spying on China. It should if a) it’s leaders have any smarts at all and b) if it wishes to survive. Best wishes to the reporter– with the Chinese law enforcement, once you’re arrested, you’ve basically been tried and sentenced, meaning they have no burden of proof. If you appear in court, it’s only to renounce your bougeois ways and turn towards the light of communism. Honestly, I’d rather hang myself than kiss up to Mao’s legacy.

Russian sub in trouble

RIA Novosti - Russia - Rescue of Russian bathyscaphe from sea bottom under way

I think there’s more to this story than meets the eye. Also, I wonder, have the Russian accepted help from the US Navy? I’ve heard about Navy procedure involving deep undersea rescues, including that they offer to help other countries (like Russia, they did it before) in events such as this. However, I see no mention of the US Navy at all. Does this mean that they refused the offer? If so, why? Is there something on the vessel– or about its location or mission that they don’t want us to know? Why was it down there anyway, and why could it have been hit with a cable– why would it be playing with the cables? During the cold war, I know the US sent quiet subs to listen in on Russian communications through divers that pulled up cables. Could they be trying the same thing? Or perhaps on a former satellite like the Ukraine, which appears to headed in a different political direction?
